I know you said you'd rather not use the server browser, but really, it's much better to do so in my opinion. After the Competitive algorithim update, the wait has gone down quite a bit to only about 4-5 minutes but I still occasionally get a 10 minute wait. When I play on community servers, 99. I know you can do this in the server browser, but I'd rather not have to use the server browser every single match I join. I live around Los Angeles, and I have a hard time believing that there are simply no servers available with decent ping.

As soon as I learned that the max acceptable ping was adjustable, I've kept mine set at 75 which pretty much guarantees a 50-60 ping server, or nothing the 100+ ping alternatives are of such poor quality that it's just not worth the aggravation of playing in them at all. It actually bottoms out at 50, so trying to set it to 20 won't do anything. On top of that, the wait was pretty quick. Up until a couple months or so ago, whether I was in a group with high rank disparity or just by myself, I never had a problem finding a server with my preferred ping setting. Now it's a struggle to find a game at all. The wait times have also gone up a lot recently. It really depends on where you live.

The only limitation left is your skill group then. When trying to find a competitive match, I always get this error. Just to preface, I have no intention of talking about 64 tick at all. I don't know why it would allow you to join east coast servers, though, unless it did initially ping the server for less than 50. I'm so sick of being thrown into servers half way across the world where I get over 200ms, is there a way to set a maximum acceptable matchmaking ping when clicking 'Play Online Now'? I don't get why people don't opt to use it more often in the first place; sure, there's a lot more clicks involved, but it's better than having to accidentally join a server that's bad for you ping or otherwise , only to quit and find another which may or may not result in the same thing. I've only used matchmaking thrice in my 700+ hours of playing, and all 3 times, I ended up on an Australian, American, and European server in that order even though I'm in the Philippines and should be on Singaporean or Japanese servers. .

I would like to hear your opinions. Americans can usually find servers within a min or so even during off-peak hours. If anyone else has had the same problem and has found a solution, please let me know. We just had a thread identical to this one, first people started yelling that this was just a veil for region lock even though it isn't and then the thread got locked. I, myself, am from Australia and due to the playerbase, I had to wait 20 minutes for my first Competitive match. .
